Texas Transportation Museum

The Texas Transportation Museum is a neighborhood gem that should not be missed. The museum houses an extensive collection of transportation memorabilia, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles that date back to the early 1900s. It also has rotating exhibits on different topics like aviation and shipping. There are also two theaters where visitors can watch movies about transportation history or enjoy live performances by bands from the City of San Antonio, Texas.

History of the museum

The museum began when a man named Tom Behr decided to open up his home in Dallas, Texas so visitors could see the exhibits he had collected over the years. However, it soon became clear that there was not enough space for everyone who wanted to visit and enjoy all of the interesting artifacts. So, in 1991, Mr. Behr purchased land and opened an outdoor space where his collection could be housed. In 1994, the museum officially became a 501(c) non-profit organization and began to grow even larger as more people were interested in seeing all of these interesting artifacts from transportation history.

In 2007, TTM moved from its original location near downtown Dallas to its current home on Highway 176 in San Antonio. This new location provided more space for the museum's ever-growing collection, as well as a variety of interactive exhibits for visitors to enjoy. Today, TTM continues to be a popular destination for people of all ages who want to learn more about transportation history. Whether you're a fan of cars, trucks, motorcycles, or just transportation in general, this museum has something for everyone.
